purplegreen MDM

purplegreen MDM is being prepared for its first pilot. These pages describe the development release.

The device list and the device timeline

Tablets report to Google, and Google tells us. Most values below are therefore what the tablet reported last, not live values. See What "offline" means for what "last seen" and "offline" mean.

Columns

Column Meaning
Name Our display name for the tablet. New tablets are named <site>-<last 4 of serial>, or unassigned-<last 4> when the token was unknown. You can rename it.
Serial The serial number the tablet reports (stored trimmed and in capitals).
IMEI, Wi-Fi MAC, SIM details (device page) Hardware and SIM identifiers. Hidden for read-only members.
Model Manufacturer and model, for example Samsung SM-X130.
Site The site the tablet belongs to. Empty with Needs site when it enrolled with a token we do not know.
Lifecycle PRE_REGISTERED (imported, not enrolled yet), ENROLLING (setting up), ACTIVE, RETIRED (kept enrolled, out of service), WIPING (wipe sent, waiting for the tablet), WIPED, REMOVED (Google no longer knows it).
Tags Your own labels; use them to filter.
Last seen / online The later of the last status report and the last policy sync. Online when newer than the tenant's offline threshold (26 hours by default).
Battery Level and whether it is charging, from the tablet's latest power events.
Compliant Whether the tablet applies the policy fully. When not, the device page lists the settings and reasons.
Android Android version (the device page adds the security patch level).
Kiosk app Version of the kiosk app the tablet reports.
Policy The profile and version the tablet runs (applied) and the one it should run (desired). Drift means they differ: usually the tablet is still applying a change; if it persists, the 15-minute reconcile re-assigns the policy.
Previous device The earlier record of the same hardware, when a tablet was enrolled again (for example after a repair).

Filters: site, lifecycle, text (name or serial), tag, compliant, online, needs site. Site managers see only the tablets of their sites; tablets without a site are visible to owners and admins only.

Profile chain and "Needs site"

The device page shows which profile the tablet gets and why: its own profile, else its site's, else the organisation default (see Which profile a tablet gets). The devices list can show the source of each tablet's profile.

A tablet that enrolled with a token we do not know, or with a token of an archived site, has no site and shows Needs site: a banner on the device page and a filter on the devices list. Owners and admins fix it with Assign site on the device page; site managers cannot see such tablets until they are assigned. A tablet that already has a site is moved with Move to site instead.
